learning how to make a mystery picture quiz

I learnt how to make a mystery picture quiz using google sheets.

It was fun filling out the mystery quiz that was already made but it was even better trying to make one!

It was challenging at first to create a mystery picture quiz because there were so many instructions to understand.

This tool will be useful when I want to test my friends brain.

The presenters helped by talking in a clear voice and by explaining each step in a simple way.

If I was running this activity I would explain how to unzip pictures because that stumped me.

The Umawera Pixel Art challenge

I learnt how to make pixel art on a google sheet. I also learnt how to make a smooth curve and a circle with pixels.

It was fun to experiment with different shapes and objects made out of pixels.

It was challenging to get a dolphin shape, it was hard to fit everything in and it was hard to make a good tail.

This tool will be useful when we have to make a DLO about something on a google sheet.

The presenters helped me to understand what we were doing because they spoke in a clear voice

If I was running this challenge I would add a competition and the winner of the best pixel art

Matariki 2024

This Matariki we have been making displays to teach other classes about our stars. In our class we chose the stars Matariki, Tupu-a-nuku and Tupu-a-rangi. Matariki made a skit explaining what it means and what changes to make. Tupu-a-nuku made masks and you had to move them to the garden if they grow in the ground. They gave us a seed and we planted them all around the garden. Tupu-a-rangi had a quiz where they had masks and you needed to tell them to go left or right. Some went left because they belong to Tupu-a-rangi, if they belong to Tupu-a-nuku they went right. I have made a quiz that shows some of the stuff I learnt. Take a look and test your knowledge of Matariki.

Our Earth

In Te Ngahere we’ve been learning about what the structure of the earth is made of, how tectonic plates move. The earth is made up of four and a half layers. The center is called the inner core. its made up of iron and nickel. The outer core is made up of of liquid nickel and iron. The mantle, its made out of silicates. Silicates is made of quartz and many other things. Between the mantle and crust is tectonic plates. They’re plates of the crust that move one-ten inches a year. When they move away from each other its called a divergent boundary. When this happens it can create a rift (valley) or rivers. When they move towards each other its called a convergent boundary. When this happens it can make mountains or volcanoes. When they rub against each other it called a transform boundary. This is what causes earthquakes. The crust is a thin layer of rock.

The Pal Day Filled With Water/Lots of Soap!!

Recently Stephen and I ran a Pal day activity. Our activity was soap and sponge tag. Even though it was supposed to be year sixes running the activities we asked Wheae Becks and she said that Mrs Williams would allow it.

That was the day that Stephen and I realized how annoying it is for the teachers when we don’t listen.

One thing I could do better next time is try to explain the rules in a more simple way. We maybe should have a towel on standby because a lot of people got soap in their eyes.

Te Maunga’s Cool Camp!!!!!

Last 3 weeks ago we went to Coopers beach christian camp where we could go on a water slide, kayaks, slippery hockey and an obstacle course.

I learnt how to paddle backwards and I learned was that it’s not that weird to go somewhere with your class for three days because I thought it would be weird.

One thing I could do better next time is that I will try and have more fun on the Kayaks by racing someone.

What do you think you will learn if you go there?

here’s my camp create!!

The Marataka

This term we’ve been reading a book called Living By The Marataka. The maramataka is the Maori calendar.

Reading this book has helped learn what was used to make the first marataka. They used te ra (the sun), nga whetu (the stars), nga aorangi (the planets) and te marama (the moon). The Maori used observation to create the first marataka. We had to make two of our own questions about the text.

One thing I could do better next time is not talk while I’m waiting for them to get marked instead of working.

The picture below is about what I do in the different seasons. RAUMATI is Summer, NGAHURU is Autumn, TAKURUA is Winter and KOANGA is spring.

The amazing Matariki

Last week was Matariki so we started to celebrate it by researching about it and the Matariki stars.

I learnt that in China Matariki is known as Mao the head of the white tiger and in Hawaii it’s Makali’i, the eyes of royalty. Some countries call it Pleiades.  For example, in England and most English speaking countries they call it the Pleiades. but most countries don’t call it that.

One thing I could do better next time is to learn how other countries started celebrating Matariki.

Challenge: What is Matariki called in Germany?

CRICKET

At cricket I learned how to hold and use a cricket bat properly and how to be safe when using a cricket bat and how to use hand eye coordination.

My favourite part was when we hit the ball and our buddy trying to catch it. Next time to be better I’m going to watch the ball even more than I was that day.

During the Holidays I went to Auckland city zoo to see all of the animals and their babies. I was feeling very happy  because most of the animals were jumping around. Next time I could be more patient to see the meerkats.

PAL DAY

Last week we had a pal day.My favorite activity was a slip n slide and I managed to stay on my Knees till the end.

On the slippery hockey thing it was hard not to fall over and not slip and slime into someone.

Next time I hope It’s going to be a fire themed one.
